2015 a Record-Breaking Year for Kinnser

Austin-based healthcare technology company Kinnser Software roars into 2016 with record $45 million revenue, new high-tech leadership, new solutions for home care & hospice and more innovation on the horizon.

Austin, TX – January 28, 2016 – While most of the news in the world of business has been pretty dismal lately, the mood at Austin-based Kinnser Software is enthusiastic as the company today announced record revenue, new leadership, impressive 2015 accomplishments and hinted at an ambitious, well-funded plan for continued innovation in 2016.  Kinnser is the leading technology partner in post-acute care, with SaaS-based solutions that currently serve more than 4,000 home health, private duty, therapy and home care agencies.

A year of growth and revenue
Kinnser reports more than $45 million in revenue for 2015, up from $33 million in 2014. Kinnser solutions are licensed by its customers using a monthly subscription model which, given the company’s low churn and enviable 99% customer retention rate, enables it to predictably and consistently build revenue year after year.  Kinnser solutions are creating improvement in segments of healthcare — namely, home care and hospice — that have been notoriously resistant to technology. Only with the advent of mobile web-enabled devices has technology-connected healthcare at home been possible, and Kinnser has been a pioneer in this area. In 2015 alone, more than 25 million billable patient visits were performed using Kinnser solutions.

In addition to organic growth — adding more customers and helping them improve care — Kinnser in 2015 proved itself capable of growing through acquisitions, as well. In March, the company acquired California-based home health software company VisiTrack. Then, in October, Kinnser acquired Mississippi-based PPS Plus, a national leader in clinical analysis and benchmarking tools for home health. Both acquisitions add value to Kinnser’s revenue and are highly aligned with the company’s mission to improve the delivery of home care and hospice services.

New leadership with high tech & high growth experience
In August, Kinnser hired Matt Curtin as Chief Revenue Officer. Curtin was formerly the VP of North American and Enterprise Sales at Austin-based Bazaarvoice. In this newly created role at Kinnser, Curtin leads the sales and marketing teams and is responsible for revenue generation. Curtin’s hiring is a strategic move for Kinnser and is indicative of the company’s intention to grow far beyond its current size. Curtin was part of the leadership team of three fast-growing SaaS companies — FreeMarkets, Ariba (now an SAP company) and Bazaarvoice — all of which he helped drive to their public stock offerings. “I’ve seen fast growth before, and it’s truly exciting,” says Curtin. “But what Kinnser represents is something even more important — a company with almost unlimited growth potential, but also a company with a heart-felt commitment to transform healthcare through innovation.”

A responsibility to innovate
Kinnser reinvests 20% of its annual revenue in research and development, continuously enhancing its products and developing new innovative solutions that help home care and hospice agencies improve care. “Our solutions are absolutely vital to the care that our customer agencies provide,” says Chris Hester, Kinnser’s Founder and President. “That’s why at Kinnser we believe it is our responsibility to continuously innovate. 2015 saw the launch of Kinnser Link®, a mobile application that allows home health clinicians to access and document within the Kinnser electronic medical record when Internet access is not available. Also in 2015, Kinnser Direct Secure Messaging™ was introduced. Kinnser Direct Secure Messaging utilizes a HIPAA-compliant encryption standard that allows home health and hospice agencies to securely exchange healthcare information with hospital, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team. It is an important step toward improving collaboration between acute care providers, like in-patient hospitals, and post-acute care providers, like home health and hospice, who care for patients at home.

Even more innovation is on the horizon for 2016, with multiple product launches planned in February.

All this… and still a great place to work
Kinnser continued its philanthropic support of the Kinnser Scholars Program at Austin Community College in 2015. The program will fund more than 250 nursing scholarships through 2026. Also in 2015, Kinnser appeared on Inc. Magazine’s list of the fastest growing US companies for the fifth time and on Deloitte’s Technology’s Fast 500 list for the third consecutive year. Kinnser, which now employs more than 250 professionals, also was honored as a Top Workplace of Central Texas for the fourth consecutive year.
